I last went to Melati with my girlfriend. It was bilstering humid and hot but as a food experience seemed ok. After several successful attempts at finding alternative Malaysian restaurants (either because they had closed down or I’d found out they were terrible), I opted to give this place a second chance. This time, we were given a table round the back where conversely the air conditioning was blasted away like a sub zero freezer. We started off with the vegetable curry puff and prawn rolls (Gemma is a pescetarian). The Curry puff was overly greasy and the prawn rolls looked and tasted like they had come from the freezer via the deep fat fryer. For mains, she had a tofu dish with coconut rice and I tried the Char Kway Teow as their last attempt at Laksa was greatly disappointing. This did not do much better. If I’m not mistaken, no one seems to want to put lard in their Char Kway Teow, or perhaps not enough of it. Very dissapointing.

With a £35 bill, I will simply not be returning. There will be no third time lucky.

  1. Just wasting some in between class time on Stumbleupon and I found your entry. Not normally what I prefer to learn about, but it was absolutely worth my time. Thanks.
