Upon moving my blog to this website, I’ve come across over 30 drafted reviews in various states from a couple of words to ones like this one, which was complete. So this represents my notes from a visit in April 2009 and a more recent visit in the last three months.
Ranoush Juice is part of the large group of Maroush and Ranoush restaurants that was started by Marouf Abouzaki in 1981. They have been serving shwarmas and churning out juice for years. Bungalow 8 the night before and whiskey tasting at Browns in the afternoon, we had set our stomachs on a mission to go to Maroush on Egware Road. However walking down Edgware Road we quickly realised a slight problem – virtually every restaurant was a Maroush. Anyway, we just wanted Shawarma… and so obviously we had to choose a garishly bright and fast looking place – Ranoush Juice. The menu comprises of a modest choice of meze and many main dishes that can be had a wrap or sandwich (essentially the item is wrapped in Shami bread with salad and garnish) or as a plate served up with rice. We both ordered the mixed Shawarma (Chicken and Lamb) and shared Hommos and Taboulleh. The Hommos was of the Hommos Beiruty variety and arrived with a plate of warmed Shami breads. The Hommos had a definate kick to it and whilst the Taboulleh was perhaps the most coursely chopped I’d ever had, but it was fresh and zingy. It is simply hard to beat cheap and authentic Lebanese food in a fast paced brightly lit café surrounding. Fully expect to make a mess all over your clothes when you have Shawarma and you will have to race for available tables. They aren’t many. Tuck in.

Oh mate, you reviewed a student fav of mine! I used to live in Sussex Gardens and this was our halls’ kebab of choice.
I’m surprised you manageed to get that photo of the customers in without comments! If you go again, make sure you ask for the shawarma wraps to be grilled!!! The houmous is amongst the best on Edgware Road in my opinion and it is right by my flat!
